Mrs. Melissa Sharpe

Hello!  My name is Melissa Sharpe and I am a math instructor for Alexander Early College :)! I live in Alexander County. My husband and I graduated from ACHS (GO COUGARS!), and our four children will attend West Alexander Middle School, Alexander Central High School, and Alexander Early College. I have taught math for 21 years now, and am very excited to be part of the AEC team. I look forward to seeing AEC grow, and how the students will give back to the Alexander County community. Together, AEC and ACHS will make a great team where they honor the history and tradition of Alexander County Schools! After working in another district for 15 years, being back in Alexander County Schools feels fantastic. Once I graduated from ACHS, I attended UNC Asheville, earning a math degree while obtaining my teaching license. I absolutely love teaching high school students, holding them accountable, and enjoy promoting the love of math!!! My two main mottos are to ENJOY THE JOURNEY and IF YOU MAKE A MISTAKE, IT IS OK-SAY YOU ARE SORRY AND LEARN FROM IT!

At AEC, I am the co-sponsor of The National Beta Club.

For students: I use a learning management system called Google Classroom to share ALL the information you need.  When it gets closer to the start of school, you will receive a Google Classroom invitation from me via your Alexander County Schools email address.  In the meantime, if you have any questions please feel free to email me.
